'Edmonia Lewis: Wild Fire and Art'

Edmonia Lewis is one of the artists included in our series 'Seventeen Artists - who just happen to be women'.

For this online talk, Sara developed and furthered her presentation of the sculptor, for a more detailed and multifaceted analysis of her life and career. Lewis emerges as a complex figure, who needed to balance diverging elements, both in her private life and in her artistic production, coming to really interesting and innovative conclusions.

15% of the voluntary donations received for this event has been donated to the Runnymede Trust, “the UK's leading independent race equality think tank” and registered charity, which works to “generate intelligence to challenge race inequality in Britain through research, network building, leading debate, and policy engagement”, as a contribution to promote radical transformation and the end of racism and race inequality.
